HAIR: Kiss InstaWave Automatic Curling Iron

Festival hair status achieved. The Kiss InstaWave Automatic Curling Iron ($69.96) makes effortless-looking hair....effortless. In a nutshell, the Kiss Instawave is a curling wand with spinning prongs (initiated with the click of a button) , so you don't have to worry about burning your fingertips off while wrapping your hair around the barrel of your curling iron. 

Second day hair with the KISS Instawave

The KISS InstaWave features the following: 

• a fully automatic curler // the spinning prongs grab your hair and wrap strands around the barrel for you. 
• a curl dial // left or right, so you can easily determine which direction to curl away or towards your face
• a 2 heat setting // high or low with a maximum of 420C
• automatic shutoff after 90 minutes // so you don’t burn your house down

Mind you, despite the all the easy-to-use and automatic functions you still have to do some work (i.e. reading the instructions, brushing your hair, sectioning the hair into 1-2 inch strands, etc.). Using the KISS InstaWave is a little different from using a regular curling iron. The motions are a bit more restricted as you should only use the wand parallel to your hair to avoid tangling. Perhaps it takes time to get use to the motion of being lazy, doing nothing, and not having to worry about burning your fingers off to wrap strands of hair around a sizzling hot hair tool. 

Some things I’ve noticed…

• if my hair gets tangled I press the button in the opposite direction and pull the wand out of the hair 
• similar to other heated hair tools, the wand can create loose waves or slightly tighter curls depending on the heat settings and how long you hold your hair on the tool 
• starting higher on the stand of hair (closer to the scalp) curls the entire piece of hair rather than the bottom
• the ceramic ionic barrel doesn’t ruin my hair. 

With only two heat settings and a single barrel, the KISS InstaWave isn’t the most versatile tool in the world compared to something like a wand with 8 detatchable barrels of different shapes and sizes that a hairstylist might use but what’s nice about the KISS InstaWave is that it takes the decision making out of doing your hair.  If you’re a beginner, if you’re lazy, if you’re indecisive and if you like effortless hairstyles the KISS InstaWave is a great fit for you.
