Hello Kitty. This time it's not a collector's item but a bulky budget find available at Walmart for $3.97. Meet the Hello Kitty Peelable Nail Polish. I found her in the nail polish/beauty section and something about the ridiculously gimmicky plastic packaging was saying buy me, buy me! So I did.
The packaging is kind of ridiculous. I'm pretty sure this is meant to be for small children because it's peelable, as well as non-toxic. The huge Hello Kitty brush is more like a toy than an actual nail polish brush.
First thing, this nail polish smells like artificial blueberries. Mmmmmmmmm. The polish itself is... not what you want in a nail polish. It's thin and sheer. To build up to the semi-full opacity on my nails above, it took 5 coats. Sure, each coat dries quickly in less than 20 seconds but it's streaky and never becomes opaque.
The polish is shiny on the nails but because it's peelable it feels like a non-polish material - a little plastic or rubbery. Thus, it's kind of delicate. If you stab your nail into your polish, it will leave a dent.
The peeling-factor totally works. I like to peel off my polish anyways (even if it's not peelable). There's something so satisfying about peeling something off your nails. I don't know... I'm weird. The polish doesn't peel off in one clean swoop... It takes a bit more picking at the nails.
Overall, it's kind of hard to have high expectations for this nail polish, as it's definitely meant for small children. The polish is not opaque or particularly long-lasting but IT SMELLS LIKE BLUEBERRIES and the fact that removal requires no acetone is nice! I wouldn't buy this if you're an adult but for this would make a nice treat for a young girl (5-7 years old) who's looking to get into nail polish!
Have you ever tried a peelable nail polish?
