L’Oreal Fibralogy Thickening Shampoo, Booster & Conditioner

According to the L’Oreal Paris website, hair that lacks thickness is limp, hard to manage and gets greasy quickly. The L’Oreal Fibralogy line formulas feature a substance called Filloxane, a molecule that is meant to penetrate the hair fibre and then expand to create thickness.  L’Oreal says that after 1 use, hair feels thicker and after 5 uses hair is thicker.

I don’t think my hair is truly “fine” or “limp”, it’s definitely hard to manage and gets greasy very quickly. Meeting two of the “lacks thickness” criteria makes me a thin-ish haired kinda gal.

Since I’m no scientist, I’m not going to bother babbling about the molecular structure of this Filloxane thing. What really matters is if the product works.

Thickening features aside, the L’Oreal Fibralogy Shampoo and Conditioner ($7.99 each) are a solid cleansing/conditioning duo. For the past three weeks, it’s kept my hair feeling clean, strong, shiny and split-end free. Though my hair doesn’t feel “thicker”, it does look and feel more volumized, with a little more body to it than last month.  I’m happy that the “fine” features of my hair have diminished. Using the Fibralogy line, I can go up to 3 days without washing my hair.

On the negative, it doesn’t make my hair feel as soft or silky as some other shampoos nor does my hair feel thicker (though it does look thicker). In fact, for me, use of the Thickening Booster ($8.99) before conditioner and after shampoo 2x per week doesn’t really add an extra va-va-voom to the thickening effect of the other two products.

Overall, a great shampoo that gives my hair lots of volume and lessens my greasiness. It didn’t do much “thickening” but I’m almost sure that if your hair was finer than mine it would do you some good!

Have you tried the L'Oreal Fibralogy line? Do you have fine hair?

HAUL: Peace out, Target Canada!

I love Target. There was one in Waterloo, which I visited at least monthly to ogle at all the Sonia Kashuk and Pixi and NYX things. Sure, there are lots of Targets in Toronto, but none in the general vicinity of my house (GTA suburbs) or work (down in the down town). Sad life.

I was a bit disheartened when Target announced its departure from Canada but I can understand why. The Waterloo location was like a ghost town – even during Black Friday, etc. and although Target selection is pretty great (even in Canada) prices were never as quite as good as Wal-Mart.

The bright side of the story is that liquidation = discounts = hauls. So, Charles (aka boyfriend who lives closer to a Target) was kind enough to pick up a few things for me, 30% off of course. I heard the sales for non-makeup stuffs were not so great... on to the good stuff :)

Sonia Kashuk Small Hair Brush
100% fueled by the recommendation of Aleeza from Stylish and Literate, who compared the $12 SK version to the luxe Mason Pearson Brush. The brush is a mix of plastic and boar bristles which makes for a killer de-tangling and shine-adding brush. Loving it, thus far.

Sonia Kashuk Large Powder Brush
There’s something so sexy about the shape of the black-handled Sonia Kashuk Brushes. I have yet to try it but Paula’s Choice tells me it’s pretty good.

L’Oreal Miss Manga Mascara
This is my first L’Oreal mascara. Raves upon raves I have heard about it, but I won’t be trying it until I start wearing makeup again. I'm exited to see if it’s better than my HG CoverGirl Clump Crusher Mascara.

Have you picked anything up from Target's liquidation sale?

L'Oreal Colour Riche Nail Polish in Sexy in Sequins

L'Oreal is not a brand I'm familiar with. I think I've reviewed a handful of lip products but no polishes. Finally, a L'Oreal polish review has arrived - Sexy in Sequins is L'Oreal's take on the glitter polish and it doesn't disappoint.

For starters, Sexy in Sequins is all the darkness, glam, and mysterious drama that I'll ever need in a polish. It's a deep purple base with tons of glitter. Would it be weird if I said that this polish is opaque in less than 1 coat? Somehow it is. I apply 2 coats for good measure, but 1 is sufficient. Like any glitter or textured polish, the polish dries quite quickly and the staying power is annoyingly long. Aluminum foil, tons of cotton balls and a bit of focus are required for removal.

Not exactly the best colour for the spring time, but I'm kind of regretting not trying out L'Oreal polishes previously. Another round of the L'Oreal Collection Prive Polishes just launched, perhaps I'll need to jump on that :)

Have you tried L'Oreal polishes? If so, what do you think?

Special thanks to Kalyn of KalynLord.com for sending me this beaut of a polish
