HAIR: Kiss InstaWave Automatic Curling Iron

Festival hair status achieved. The Kiss InstaWave Automatic Curling Iron ($69.96) makes effortless-looking hair....effortless. In a nutshell, the Kiss Instawave is a curling wand with spinning prongs (initiated with the click of a button) , so you don't have to worry about burning your fingertips off while wrapping your hair around the barrel of your curling iron.

Second day hair with the KISS Instawave

The KISS InstaWave features the following:
  • a fully automatic curler // the spinning prongs grab your hair and wrap strands around the barrel for you.
  • a curl dial // left or right, so you can easily determine which direction to curl away or towards your face
  • a 2 heat setting // high or low with a maximum of 420C
  • automatic shutoff after 90 minutes // so you don’t burn your house down

Mind you, despite the all the easy-to-use and automatic functions you still have to do some work (i.e. reading the instructions, brushing your hair, sectioning the hair into 1-2 inch strands, etc.). Using the KISS InstaWave is a little different from using a regular curling iron. The motions are a bit more restricted as you should only use the wand parallel to your hair to avoid tangling. Perhaps it takes time to get use to the motion of being lazy, doing nothing, and not having to worry about burning your fingers off to wrap strands of hair around a sizzling hot hair tool.

Some things I’ve noticed…
  • if my hair gets tangled I press the button in the opposite direction and pull the wand out of the hair
  • similar to other heated hair tools, the wand can create loose waves or slightly tighter curls depending on the heat settings and how long you hold your hair on the tool
  • starting higher on the stand of hair (closer to the scalp) curls the entire piece of hair rather than the bottom
  • the ceramic ionic barrel doesn’t ruin my hair.

With only two heat settings and a single barrel, the KISS InstaWave isn’t the most versatile tool in the world compared to something like a wand with 8 detatchable barrels of different shapes and sizes that a hairstylist might use but what’s nice about the KISS InstaWave is that it takes the decision making out of doing your hair.  If you’re a beginner, if you’re lazy, if you’re indecisive and if you like effortless hairstyles the KISS InstaWave is a great fit for you.

What do you think of the KISS InstaWave?

L’Oreal Fibralogy Thickening Shampoo, Booster & Conditioner

According to the L’Oreal Paris website, hair that lacks thickness is limp, hard to manage and gets greasy quickly. The L’Oreal Fibralogy line formulas feature a substance called Filloxane, a molecule that is meant to penetrate the hair fibre and then expand to create thickness.  L’Oreal says that after 1 use, hair feels thicker and after 5 uses hair is thicker.

I don’t think my hair is truly “fine” or “limp”, it’s definitely hard to manage and gets greasy very quickly. Meeting two of the “lacks thickness” criteria makes me a thin-ish haired kinda gal.

Since I’m no scientist, I’m not going to bother babbling about the molecular structure of this Filloxane thing. What really matters is if the product works.

Thickening features aside, the L’Oreal Fibralogy Shampoo and Conditioner ($7.99 each) are a solid cleansing/conditioning duo. For the past three weeks, it’s kept my hair feeling clean, strong, shiny and split-end free. Though my hair doesn’t feel “thicker”, it does look and feel more volumized, with a little more body to it than last month.  I’m happy that the “fine” features of my hair have diminished. Using the Fibralogy line, I can go up to 3 days without washing my hair.

On the negative, it doesn’t make my hair feel as soft or silky as some other shampoos nor does my hair feel thicker (though it does look thicker). In fact, for me, use of the Thickening Booster ($8.99) before conditioner and after shampoo 2x per week doesn’t really add an extra va-va-voom to the thickening effect of the other two products.

Overall, a great shampoo that gives my hair lots of volume and lessens my greasiness. It didn’t do much “thickening” but I’m almost sure that if your hair was finer than mine it would do you some good!

Have you tried the L'Oreal Fibralogy line? Do you have fine hair?
I received these items for free, courtesy of Influenster.

HAIR: Irresistible Me Sapphire 8-in-1 Complete Curling Wand

8 interchangeable attachments and a gazillion ways to style your hair. Such is beauty of the Irresistible Me Sapphire 8-in-1 Complete Curling Wand ($199 with free shipping). Straight-haired gals want curly hair and curly-haired gals want straight hair. As a straight-haired girl, there's nothing quite like a curling wand.

Irresistible Me is a web store that specializes in clip-in extensions, full lace wigs and hair accessories. There's also two styling tools for sale - a straightening iron and the Sapphire Complete Curling Wand. When offered the option to try anything from the store, I skipped all the wigs (I already have enough hair for 2 and a half people) and went straight to the curling wand.

LEFT - Loose waves with 32 MM Barrel // RIGHT - Unruly curls with the Pearl Barrel

What's included in the kit:
- 8 Barrels - 13mm, Pearl, 13/25mm, 25mm, 32mm, 25/13mm, 19mm, 18/9mm
- Sapphire handle
- Heat-resistant glove
- Black carrying case (not pictured)
- Instructions and safety warnings (be sure to read these before use!!)
- 1 year limited warranty

The Specs:
- tourmaline barrels
- negative ions (to eliminate frizz)
- digital temperature display
- fast heat up (~1 min)
- 450F max
- 360 Degree Cord

In general, the Irresistible Me Sapphire 8 in 1 Complete Curling Wand is super easy to use. To change the barrels you simply stick one into the Sapphire base and turn the lock to secure it. The wand heats up in less than a minute which is AMAZING for rushed mornings.  You literally just twist your hair around the barrel and hold it. 5 seconds = loose curls and 10 seconds = tight curls. I can do my whole head of lioness hair in 15 minutes or less.

I'm also quite proud of myself because I haven't burned my face or my hands yet *knocks on wood*, which is mostly thanks to the heat-resistant glove and the cool plastic tip on each of the barrels.

As for the anti-frizz and smooth/shiny hair claims given the negative ion technology, it seems to be working thus far. My hair is oftentimes (especially in the Winter) quite frizzy and use of the Irresistible Me wand has minimized my frizziness quite a bit.

Overall, an awesomely versatile hair tool. I don't own very many hair tools (my first curling iron was a hand-me-down) and I suspect that $199 is a little pricey for most. But divide it by 8 and you've got 8 different curling wands for $25 each.

Do you use a curl your hair with a curling wand?

PS: It can't be just me. I asked my friends, boyfriend, and a few other bloggers what they thought of the second photo (barrel attachments) and it appears that people think "sex toy" before "curling wand"... awks.

HAIR: Lush Shampoo Bars in Braziliant and Copperhead

Ditch the shampoo bottle and opt for shampoo in solid form. The much loved Lush Shampoo bars are now available in six new varieties - Jason And the Argan Oil, Braziliant, Copperhead, Lullaby, Honey I Washed My Hair, and Montalbano. I find the shampoo bars to be mega-travel friendly (i.e. not a liquid) and super easy to use. I've previously reviewed Squeaky Green - which I find is great for removing buildup but a little harsh on my scalp for regular use. Thus, I was excited to test out a few more varieties from the line.

Braziliant ($9.95)
Get Rio-lly good hair with this shampoo bar, reminiscient of the Brazilian sun. Whole fresh organic oranges are packed with nutrients which will make your locks super shiny. Andiroba oil makes this especially moisturising when use on curly or Afro-Caribbean hair. We've also added ylang ylang oil and sweet orange oil to treat your hair to tropical fragrance.

Pre-Braziliant, I had been experiencing a bout of dandruff. Post-Brazilliant and there’s no white fluffs in sight. I definitely don’t have Afro-Caribbean hair but I my locks do get frizzy and dry and dull during the winter months. Not only does the orange scent smell bright and invigorating but the shampoo bar leaves my hair looking and feeling soft, shiny and healthy without creating build-up.

Copperhead ($11.95)

Don’t be latte for work, invigorate with a double shot of coffee grounds and roasted cocoa extract. Persian red henna leaves hair feeling deeply conditioned and gloriously glossy. Escape the daily grind with Fair Trade vanilla absolute and vetiver oil for a rich, enticing aroma. Great for darker shades and those with red tones.

What crazy lady wouldn't want their hair to look like a richer colour. Although I don't have red tones, I have quite dark hair that could use a bit of a shiny pick-me-up. Copperhead isn't as true-to-ingredients smelling as I expected. It's more of an herbal scent rather than coffee, cocoa and vanilla. The result was kind of meh. My hair felt cleansed after use but I couldn't see much gloss or shine.

It's important to note that both of these shampoo bars contain Sodium Laurth Sulfate, which is in most non-natural shampoos, is also an irritant to many people's scalps, and not particularly environmentally friendly (doesn't degrade easily). So if you're not a fan of SLS, please be aware.

Overall, I'm quite happy with Braziliant and Copperhead is totally useable but just so-so. Lush Shampoo bars seem to last much longer than traditional shampoos and the resulting quality of my hair is equally as good if not better using shampoo in bar form.

Have you tried the Lush Shampoo Bars?

HAIR: COLAB Invisible Dry Shampoo by Ruth Crilly in Rio & London

Breaking beauty news! COLAB Invisible Dry Shampoo created by Ruth Crilly of A Model Recommends (on youtube) has hit Canadian retailers (London Drugs, Jean Coutu, Lawtons, Pharmasave & PharmaChoice) this January 2015. I haven't seen it on my drugstore's shelves just yet, but these are definitely something to look forward to!

Two of COLAB's fragrances will be available in Canada:
(1) London - A classic yet contemporary fragrance of bergamot, musk & magnolia
(2) Rio - A carnival of tropical notes with papaya, pineapple and a heart of cassis

I'm impartial to the Rio scent, as it's bright and fruity, however London smells quite good as well. Both scents are available in either a travel size (50mL, $5.49) or a larger size (200mL,  $9.99). Obviously, it's a much better deal to get the larger size but the baby sizes are just too cute to resist and perfect for popping into your purse for on-the-go use.

Using the COLAB Invisible Dry Shampoo is as easy as a few quick steps. Simply shake the bottle, separate the hair into sections and spray your hair, focusing on the roots (I typically focus on my bangs as this is the most noticeably oily area of my hair). Wait a few minutes. Then, massage the product through the hair to spread out the product and brush out your hair for the same purpose.

Contrary to the claims of being sheer and invisible, the COLAB dry shampoo definitely has a slight white cast upon first spray. Once brushed out, the colour dissipates. What I enjoy about this dry shampoo is that... Firstly, it doesn't give hair a gritty feeling. It's virtually weightless and at the same time is still able to absorb excess oil in my hair. This means that I can use it a couple days in a row without heavy buildup on my scalp. Secondly, it smells AMAZING. Throughout the day, I find myself sniffing something that smells really nice and then I realize it's actually my hair. Different from to other dry shampoos i.e. Pantene, La Coupe, this one doesn't smell or feel like hairspray. Thirdly, it works. My hair feels clean and I can go more than one day without washing my hair.

A great British product has arrived in Canada. Will you be picking this one up?

Aveeno Positively Nourishing Moisturize Shampoo and Conditioner

Winter has taken its toll on my hair and it ain't pretty. It's static-y, which gives my hair a fatal attraction... to the sides of my face, not to mention a bit dull, as well. Enter the Aveeno Positively Nourishing Moisturize Shampoo and Conditioner ($4-$6 each). A shampoo that is clinically proven to leave hair stronger, softer and with a healthy shine in just three washes with its Nourishing Wheat Complex plus Hydrating Oat Protein - sounds perfect for my hair's needs, right?

When I looked at the "claims" of Aveeno's Positively Nourishing Moisturize Shampoo and Conditioner, I was kind of impressed. (1) 92% of women's hair looked healthier and showed improvement in manageability  (2) 92% of women felt their hair was more moisturized and (3) 85% of women's hair showed improvement in softness.

And so...even before squeezing the shampoo into my hands, the bar was set high. So how did it fare...?

Well, first and foremost, the packaging is pretty plain and non-offensive. BUT there's one thing I really, really enjoy. The lid of the shampoo is beige while the lid of the conditioner is brown. I can't even begin to tell you how many times I've accidentally double shampooed because the bottles of many brand's shampoos and conditioners look exactly the same! Packaging appreciated, Aveeno. Much appreciated.

The Aveeno Positively Nourishing Moisturize Shampoo: The shampoo contains Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, so there's the lathering agent that could be potentially stripping of natural oils in the hair. However, it's not. The shampoo is thicker than others I've tried and works into a smooth, rich lather. The feeling reminds me of the Fekkai Brilliant Glossing Shampoo, which is at much higher price point. You know that amazing feeling you get after you've applied conditioner and you run your fingers through your hair and there's no tangles? This is a shampoo that gives me that feeling. My hair was oozing moisture.

The Aveeno Positively Nourishing Conditioner: Compared to the shampoo, the conditioner felt kind of normal and a little lackluster compared to the hydrated rush I got from shampoo. To be honest, there's nothing standout about this conditioner. It was like anything else I could find at the drugstore.

The End Result: Was I within the 92% of women who had healthier, more moisturized hair? Yes. The frizzy, static thing that my hair was doing pre-Aveeno Positively Nourishing Moisturize had dissipated after one wash and my hair did, indeed, feel softer and silker. However, after several more washes, it seemed my hair was getting oilier faster, like I couldn't wait as long in-between washes as before.

Overall, yes, the Aveeno Positively Nourishing Moisturize Shampoo and Conditioner are nourishing and conditioning, and most definitely moisturizing. But I feel the need to use a more "cleansing" shampoo ever 3-4 washes to get the ultra-moisturized feeling out of my hair. Perhaps a little too moisturizing? But all in all, a fair option for dry winter hair.
Have you ever tried haircare from Aveeno?

PURPLE HAIR DON'T CARE (fail)

I got this wildly #YOLO idea to dye my hair purple in the most understated way possible - a business in the front, party in the back kind of hair dye job inspired by a post on the Beauty DepartmentI picked up one the Vidal Sassoon Pro Series London Luxe Deep Velvet Violet ($11.99) permanent hair dye on a trip to Target, holla'd at my friend Rui to be #yolo with me and got to dyeing (as opposed to dying).   The dye box came filled with everything we needed to dye our hair - gloves, the dye, post-dye conditioner, and instructions.

The process was pretty straight forward. Section your hair into a triangle formation on the back of your head and apply the dye as per the instructions. We used one bottle of dye for two people (we figured this would be sufficient, as we weren't dying ALL of our hair). To help the dye develop, we wrapped our hair in aluminum foil and even left the dye in for 15 minutes more than the 30 that was suggested.

The result? Almost undetectable. :( Not sure what we did wrong but the colour turned out wayyy more subtle than the box had suggested.

Rui's results were a bit more obvious than mine since her already dyed hair was lighter. For myself, I now have one huge section of super shiny hair that reflects a hint of purple in direct sunlight.

While the result of my attempt to be daring with my hair didn't turn out so great, the experience was both fun and funny. Perhaps next time I should just go all out and bleach my stubborn, black hair first before adding colour.

What's the craziest colour you've died your hair? Do you have any tips for hair colouring?

Special thanks to some special people (1) Rui for cooking French toast with me and then helping me dye my hair - all after pulling an all nighter! (2) My favourite triple threat fashion designer/photographer/boyfriend Charles Cheung for visiting me and taking photos

I got a *get one free* coupon to buy the Vidal Sassoon Velvet Violet hair dye through the #BeautyUnited Program

HAIR: the Tangle Teezer

Once upon a time (August 2013), Stephanie bought a Tangle Teezer in the city of Philadelphia. She used it, loved it and somehow lost it. PRAISE THE HAIR GODS, the renowned Tangle Teezer is available on Nail Polish Canada ($14.99 with free shipping) and Stephanie once again has it in her hair tools arsenal.

So... what's a Tangle Teezer anyways? Put simply, the Tangle Teezer is a hair brush with an uncanny resemblance to a dog brush. It can be used on wet or dry hair and is meant to prevent hair breakage to provide smooth, shiny hair.

Watch as I expertly brush my hair!

The Verdict: Since the Tangle Teezer is quite different from a traditional brush, it takes some time to get used to the shape. The brush itself fits nicely into the palm of my hand and glides through the hair pretty seamlessly. I notice a lot less breakage and excess hair in the bristles compared to when I use a traditional $5 brush. There's something about the proximity of your hand to your hair that allows for a lot more control and forces you to use short strokes to untangle your hair rather than break it.

What kind of hair brush do you use? Have you tried the Tangle Teezer?

HAIR: TRESemme 7 Day Smooth and Conair Flat Iron

"Long hair, don't care" - words to live by but not easily so. I love my long hair to bits but it can often be hard to maintain, unruly, and difficult to work with. As of late, I've welcomed the TRESemme 7 Day Smooth System and the Conair Flat Iron into my life and will likely never look back.

Believe it or not, when it comes to hair I'm pretty low maintenance...I don't own any heated hair tools so it was interesting to test out a flat iron for the first time!

The TRESemme 7 Day Smooth System consists of three products -  shampoo, conditioner and heat-activated treatment. Together, the system claims to keep hair sleek, shiny, and smooth for 7 days (or through 3 washes). Basically, you wash your hair as per usual with the shampoo and conditioner. Then, after you hop out of the shower, you apply the treatment liberally to the sections of your hair, blow dry, and then straighten for sleek, salon-perfect hair.

TRESemme Expert Professional Keratin 7 Day Smooth System Shampoo ($8.99) - a fairly light, creamy, shampoo with the classic TRESemme "fresh and clean" scent. When worked into the hair it builds a mild lather and upon rinsing, hair doesn't feel stripped or dry.

TRESemme Expert Professional Keratin 7 Day Smooth System Conditioner ($8.99) - similar to the shampoo, the conditioner is also lightweight. It leaves the hair feeling moisturized and soft without excess residue.

TRESemme Expert Professional Keratin 7 Day Smooth System Serum ($7.99) - the scent of the conditioner, shampoo, and serum are the same... I love the consistency and the fresh scent. If you're going to pick up a single item from the system, this is the one you need! It's a hair-perfection-potion in a pump bottle. After using this, my hair looks like I just got a blowout.

Conair 1" Flat Iron ($39.99) - a new tool for me, using such a small flat iron for my superbly thick hair takes around 15 minutes (which isn't half bad). I wish the red heated strips were slightly longer so that they could catch more surface area of my hair. As for everything else, there are no complaints. It heats up in 30 seconds, has 3 heat settings, and also features an auto-shut off for those of us who are forgetful.

At the end of the day, it comes down to one question. Does this system work? YES. My hair has been looking pretty darn flawless (if I do say so myself). I've tried the system for the past month and I'm happy to say that it works for me. However, I've actually gone off the system to test out another set of shampoos/conditioners and my hair doesn't feel the same. I feel like the TRESemme 7 Day Smooth System is something I'll be coming back too quite soon...

Do you use the same brand of hair products - shampoo, conditioner, styling (if so, what brand?)? Do you use heat tools often?

HAIR: Matrix Biolage Hydrasource Shampoo, Conditioner, Leave-In Tonic and Mask

With long hair comes dry, split ends. It's just a fact of life. Ideally, I could just use one amazing shampoo/conditioner/hair mask set and be done with it, but my hair gets super greasy when I use heavy shampoos in the summer. I spend numerous amounts of time testing to find the shampoo that's perfect for me.

These past two months, the Matrix Biolage Hydrasource set has been on the chopping block. I've never tried Matrix Biolage but it has recently re-packaged and reinvented its formulations. Matrix Biolage's focuses on using ingredients like cotton, aloe, cameilla, and orchid in its four product lines - Colorlast, Hydrasource, Smoothproof, and Volume Bloom.

Given my dry-hair issue, I turned to the Hydrasource set for a little haircare comfort.

Across the board, I can't put my finger on a scent. It smells good ... and clean but nothing too overpowering or sweet. The Shampoo is fairly lightweight for something that is considered hydrating, which I like. Although it contains Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, there's no sign of drying after using this shampoo. The Mask is a thick, cream-like product and the result it gives.. golden. After rinsing and drying, my hair feels reborn - shiny, soft, smooth, detangled and that feeling lasts for 3 days after. I feel like the Tonic is simply a light detangler. It doesn't really add or take away from the effect of the other products. Finally, the Conditioner is something that I would pass on. It didn't do much for me, especially compared to the power of the Mask. Since I don't wash my hair every day, I either used no conditioner or just the mask on the ends of my hair.

Overall, I found that when I used this system (Shampoo + Mask (every other shower) + Tonic), it made a great hydrating combo, but not for every single shower. I found that my hair became more greasy than usual - if anything it's the ridiculous hydration of the mask. I think that in moderation, these products work well. With a little trial and error, using all three products on and off once a week is perfect for regulating the state of my hair.

Do you have dry or greasy hair? Have you ever tried products from Matrix Biolage?

Festival Hair, Makeup, and GIVEAWAY! || #GottaTurnItUp Challenge #1

Coachella is far, far away, but much to my excitement there tons of awesome music festivals in Toronto. NXNE, Warped Tour, Digital Dreams, Veld, OVO Fest - whatever you're into, there's always somewhere for you to rock a fresh-faced festival look.

#GottaTurnItUp is a fun partnership between CoverGirl/Herbal Essences/Olay and MuchMusic. From May to June, I'll be doing 3 themed challenges and sharing a few beauty products with you. (psstt... there may be some giveaways along the way too!).

Anyways, confession. The first theme is festival beauty and I've been to outdoor concerts but never a festival. So... this is the makeup I would potentially wear given the opportunity to attend a festival, but this is totally appropriate for a summer's day.

I'm not fussy when it comes to my hair, as long as it's out of my face. A little volume with the Herbal Essences Naked Dry Shampoo, a quick and messy fishtail, plus a spritz Naked Volume Flexible Hold Spritzer to hold it all in place is all I need.

When I'm outdoors, minimal makeup is key. To even out the skin with a touch of very light coverage, I used the Olay Fresh Effects {BB Cream!} Skin Perfecting Tinted Moisturizing Cream. For a sunkissed glow, I smothered the CoverGirl Tru Magic Sunkisser all over the outer edges of my face. It's a lightweight cream product, so it doesn't look the slightest bit unnatural. As for the eyes, I dusted a little gold-champagne shadow for some subtle shimmer and drew a double winged liner from the upper and lower lash lines to the outer corners of the eyes. The CoverGirl Ink It! By Perfect Point Plus in Aquamarine Ink provides a slight intensity to the subdued lips and face. On the lips and lashes are the CoverGirl LipPerfection Jumbo Gloss Balm in Blush Twist and the Bombshell Volume Mascara

What hair and makeup would YOU wear to a festival? Share it with me on Twitter/Instagram using the hashtag #gottaturnitup. Let me know and you could win all of the products mentioned in this post! (must be a resident of Canada to enter)

Have you ever been to a music festival?

Lush Hair Heroes: Squeaky Green and No Drought Dry Shampoo

If I only had to wash my hair once a week, I would. Gross, I know. My love-hate relationship with my hair is never-ending. I love my long locks but I wish they were more low-maintenance. Enter the Lush Squeaky Green Solid Shampoo Bar ($11.95) and the Lush No Drought Dry Shampoo ($6.95 - 1.0 oz). It's a bird... It's a plane... It's... the-solution-to-all-my-hair-problems!

Before I give you the lowdown on this dynamic duo, let me tell you a little about my hair: (1) It's long - a couple inches below my bust (2) Similar to my skin, my hair is combination-oily - dry at the ends due to my Summer 2013 Ombre and an oil slick at the roots.

Lush Squeaky Green is a solid shampoo bar formulated for oily hair and stressed scalps. Upon popping open the tin, I got a whiff of this stuff and boy, is it strong! The combination of rosemary, peppermint, tea tree, vanilla, and chamomile smell of what I like to think might be the aroma of a picturesque half-naked Ryan Gosling. In other words, it smells a bit manly. But fear not ladies, if a you're scent-sitive and don't want to smell like a man, there is absolutely no lingering scent after you rinse this shampoo out of your hair.

The "bar" form was a bit intimidating at first, as it gave me a flashback to the nightmare that was my Grandma giving me a bar of soap to wash my hair (don't try this at home, kids). Getting over the initial fear factor, the shampoo bar is quite simple to use and the product is formulated differently than your average body soap. I wet my hair and the Squeaky Green shampoo bar, then rub it a few times in circular motions on my scalp. From there, it's just like regular, old liquid shampoo. The shampoo bar lathers very well (note: it contains sodium lauryl sulfate) and rinses out like any other. Upon rinsing, my hair feels cleansed and oil free but not stripped of all its healthiness and shine.

To add onto my new-found love for solid shampoos, the format is ultra-travel-friendly. The no-liquid factor makes it easy to throw into a carry-on without worrying about all those rules and regulations of flying.

I was never a fan of dry shampoos, so I had always resorted to baby powder. The Lush No Drought Dry Shampoo is a step up. I'm crazy for anything that smells like citrus fruit and No Drought is cleverly infused with lemon, lime, and grapefruit oils for a fresh, clean scent.

I'm not fond of the packaging. The bottle isn't capable of dispensing the product in small amounts, so I find it to be a bit wasteful and very messy. Despite its packaging transgressions, No Drought works wonders for my hair. I rub a grape sized amount in between my hands and then comb through my hair with my fingertips, focusing on my roots and bangs. The powder is very soft and lightweight, and it disappears almost immediately. The result? My hair is left feeling matte in texture without weird white powdery patches. However, one of the issues I had with this product was when I used it for the second day in a row, I could feel it on my head, but that was probably just a sign that I needed to actually wash my hair.

All in all, these two non-conventional hair products caught me off guard. They performed much better than I expected, even compared to my traditional big box shampoos and conditioners. Thanks to the Lush Squeaky Green Solid Shampoo and the No Drought Dry Shampoo I sneakily can get away with third (even fourth) day hair without looking like I poured oil over my head. *swooon*. My heroes.

What kind of hair do you have? Have you tried Lush haircare?
