GUEST POST: Sarah's Mardi Gras FOTD

HAPPY HALLOWEEN! Today, a most celebratory guest post from Sarah... :D

Hello, I'm Sarah from Workaday Ramblings. Steph is letting me take over today with a very special Halloween guest post. I've been doing a special Fantasy FOTD series on my blog featuring Halloween looks you can create with regular makeup, and I have a fun Mardi Gras mask look to share with you today.

Why buy a Halloween mask when a makeup one is hands-free and more comfortable? There is also an endless array of options you can do. My Mardi Gras mask has a simple shape with an easy 3 colour striped look. I paired it with matching gold lips to complete the look.

I used mostly eyeshadows to create this look, with a few other products thrown in. I started my tracing my mask outline using The Body Shop Gel Liner in black. This is a very opaque black and by using a brush I could create crisp lines to mimic an actual mask.

I then filled in the entire mask with a layer of NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk. This created a sticky white base for my colours to stick to. My top stripe of gold colour was done using Prestige Cosmetics Total Intensity True Metals in Gilded. My middle purple stripe was BH Cosmetics in Hollywood, and my bottom green stripe was Pure Fusion Cosmetics in Demeter. My lips were done by layering Essence Dark Romance lipgloss effects in Black Shadow under and over Prestige Cosmetics Total Intensity True Metals in Gilded

Overall, this is a fun and rather simple Halloween look that can be customized in any way imaginable. I went with traditional Mardi Gras colours for my mask. What would you go with? Thanks for having me, Steph!

What do you think of Sarah's Mardi Gras FOTD?

GUEST POST: Purple Favourites from Megan!

Last month's Canadian Beauty Bloggers guest post theme was purple. I'm a little late on posting but here's an AWESOME post of Megan's of MeganJoy.ca purple favourites! Be sure to check her out. :)

I am super excited to be guest posting on Fun Size Beauty this month! The theme for August is Purple, which was WAY easy for me considering it's one of my favourite colours. I really had to try and narrow it down to a reasonable amount of products, so here are my favourites!

Eyes
  • Almay Shadow Softie in 140 Vintage Grape - This shadow is super light yet buildable. It has a really unique texture, it's a powder but it applies super silky. It's very subtle, great for people who are just starting out playing with colours
  • Annabelle Instaglam Eyeliner + Mascara Touch-Up in Psychedelic - One end has a purple mascara, one end has a marker style liquid liner. This is a new product in my roster and it's perfect to throw in my purse for touch ups. I love the purple mascara wand, it's really small so it makes it easy to get even the smallest lashes!
  • Essence Quattro Eyeshadow in 01 XOXO - This shadow quad is only about $4 and I use it a ton. It has such a great combination of colours and I use them all. I find myself using the white as a highlighter and the light purple most often.
  • Annabelle Twist Up Retractable Eyeshadow Crayon - This twist up shadow is creamy and applies super smooth. I run this along my lid and then use my finger tip to blend. It's a metallic shimmery lavender shade and I wear it all the time!
Purple is my favourite colour for eye makeup because it really makes green eyes pop. When I was putting this post together I realized how much purple I actually had!
The great thing about this colour is that it's flattering on all eye colours! It looks beautiful on brown, hazel, blue and green eyes.

L-R Rachel McAdams (hazel/green eyes), Naya Rivera (brown eyes), Katy Perry (blue eyes)

Lips
  • Maybelline New York Elixir in 040 Vision In Violet - I don't wear purple lip colours very often, I usually stick to pinks. But this lippie has been a favourite of mine the last new months. It's super pigmented and it lasts for hours. It can get a little gloopy if you aren't careful with the application but once it's on it stays put really nicely.
  • Maybelline Color Whisper in Oh La Lilac - This translucent wash of lavender is so pretty and easy to apply on the go. The sheerness means that you don't have to be too careful with the application, so I can throw this on anytime without a mirror.

Nails
  • Julep Judi - This dark plum shade is so pretty. It has a creme finish that almost looks matte if you don't use a top coat.
  • Essie Nothing Else Metals - This has been a favourite of mine for a long time. It's from the Essie Mirror Metallics collection which is still available in some Drugstores. It has such a beautiful chrome finish and a subtle purple colour. It does get a bit streaky though so practice makes perfect with this one!
  • Julep Rae - This colour was created in honour of the Patone Colour of the Year - Radiant Orchid. It's also a creme finish and applies like a dream. TWo coats and you are done with this one. It's a perfect colour for all year round!
That's it for my favourite purple products! I hope you enjoyed this post and please feel free to follow me on TwitterFacebook and Instagram!

GUEST POST: The Mary Kay Makeup Finishing Spray by Cass of Exquisitely Chic

Hello beauties! My name is Cassy, I blog at Exquisitely Chic where I blog out beauty tips, skin care advice and product reviews (along with other things that make me smile). This month is all about heatproof summer makeup and I'm more than happy to give you tips and tricks of the trade to take your summer makeup from "Hot Mess" to "HOTNESS".
On the CBB Website  we're also featuring Mary Kay products throughout our posts and such and I figured what a great opportunity to showcase one of my favourite products!

Aside from switching to waterproof makeup (as well as using a great mattifying primer in prime oily spots - namely, the t-zone) the one tip I can give that keeps my makeup from melting away is using a good finishing spray. There are tons of finishing sprays out there. Almost every company makes one, and they're definitely worth taking a look at. The one I use is Mary Kay's Makeup Finishing Spray (by Skindinavia) is a fantastic finishing spray that leaves my makeup looking great all day. The company claims that it will help makeup last 16hrs (even on oily skin) and keeps the face feeling cool and refreshed.
This product by no means makes your makeup waterproof but it does keep makeup looking beautiful throughout the day, even in the heat. I used this when I went to the Barrie Waterfront Festival and my makeup lasted from 9:00am until very late that night. My foundation definitely lasted 16hrs, eyeshadow not so much but I didn't expect the design to last that long.
The Mary Kay Makeup Finishing Spray can be bought from the website or your local consultant for $20.00.

What's your one tip for keeping your makeup beautiful even in the humid heat we've been having?

GUEST POST: Spring Colour by Chelsey of My Beauty Full Adventure

Hi Everyone! My name is Chelsey and I write the beauty blog My Beauty Full Adventure. My Beauty Full Adventure is a Canadian Beauty Blog out of Windsor, ON. Here you will find beauty box reviews, NOTD's, beauty deals & steals, and much more! I am so excited to be guest posting here today! Our Guest Post theme for May is Transitioning into Spring and today I will be writing about some of my favourite products to celebrate the beginning of Spring.

Even though it's May, it doesn't feel like Spring yet here in Windsor. Regardless of the weather though, I am ready for Spring. I have started to pull out some of my favourite colourful products to help transition into the new Season. For some, Spring may be about pastels, but for me it is all about the brights. I like pops of colour, either on my nails, eyes, cheeks, lips, or a combination of all four.

Vasanti Micronized Silky Blush in Rockies

"Silky smooth texture blends flawlessly. High intensity micronized pigments allow for true colour transfer onto your skin. Gives you a natural radiant looking glow."

Normally, I reach for more neutral blushes like MAC's Tenderling, but there is just something about this coral blush that speaks to me. Although highly pigmented, it is easy to work with, applies flawlessly, and gives a beautiful glow to my cheeks. I have such fair skin and I feel like this blush helps warm up my face. Because a little goes a long way with this blush, this mini will last me a long time.

Benecos Natural Baked Eyeshadow in Amazing

"These mineral shadows are baked to provide you with long-lasting colour. Organic plant oils create a creamy application, goes on smooth and even."

This eyeshadow looks great as a wash of colour all over the lid, or as liner for a pop of colour. I prefer to use it for the latter either above the top lash or below the bottom. The vibrant teal is somewhat muted, so it's not too bright for work, but is still fun for on the weekend. The finish of this eyeshadow is kind of frosty so I find it brings light to my eyes.

OPI Nail Lacquer in ElePhantastic Pink

"The Classic Colours of OPI nail polish offers OPI nail colours that are beautiful yet sassy. You are sure to find nail polish colours that match your mood, your character and your wardrobe!"

ElePhantastic Pink is probably my favourite polish ever! I love it for Spring, and it is the first polish I grab for once the weather turns warm. This bright pink, semi coral creme polish is opaque in two coats, and lasts about 5 days before I notice any chipping. This polish looks great with a tan or without one, and is simply the perfect pink!

Revlon Super Lustrous Creme Lipstick in Primrose

"A classic colour lipstick packed with mega moisturizers and vitamins C and E."

This was my first Revlon lipstick, and it has quickly became my favourite lipstick colour and formula. Primrose is a soft lavender pink that is perfect for Spring. This lipstick is beautiful on its own, but also looks good paired with a wide array of lip glosses. I like pairing it the most with MAC Tendertone in Purring and Buxom Lip Polish in Dolly. For an effortless pink lip that goes with any eye look Primrose is the way to go!
