OOTD #4: A Walk in the Park

TWO THINGS. (1) Without a doubt, dresses are my go-to outfit of choice. Wake up in the morning (presumably feeling like P-Diddy), slap on a dress, and run out the door. Florals are especially amazing because they make outfits look almost excessively more put together than they actually are *case in point... ME* (2) I've been going on a lot of walks in the past couple months - to clear my mind, to talk, to unwind.

This outfit combines two of the things I've been loving lately - one of my favourite floral dresses ... and my first time at Victoria Park in Kitchener, Ontario with someone special. :)

OUTFIT
< dress > band of gypsies @ urban outfitters
< shoes > topshop
< necklace > born pretty store* (here, 10% off with the code UAUT10)

MAKEUP

< eyes > shu uemura lasting gel pencil eyeliner* // black brown

A little bit of a tangent but I want to draw your attention to the necklace that I'm wearing. As aforementioned, it's from Born Pretty Store and it costs a whopping $3.97 + free shipping. It came to me in the mail with a FOREVER 21 tag on it. So basically, you can purchase FOREVER 21 quality jewelry for 70% of the price on Born Pretty Store. The geometric circle, triangle, rectangle thing really works for me and the gold-coloured metal of the necklace isn't too yellowy. It's simple enough that it can be paired with a patterned dress or add a bit of life to a plain white tee.

Anyways, looks like summer time is coming to an end. *back to school* is in three weeks and soon enough I'll have to shove all my beloved floral dresses into the closet and bust out my parka.

What's your go-to summer outfit?

Born Pretty Store Romantic Flower Patterned Nail Art Stickers

MOAR NAIL STICKERS, mostly because it's final exam season for the next week and whilst I tried these out I didn't want to spend too much time waiting for my nails to dry. So it's really all in the convenience of the matter. Pictured above are the Born Pretty Store Romantic Flower Patterned Nail Art Stickers ($1.99 for 14 pieces).

They're like any other nail sticker/applique except for one small standout factor. HOLY MOLY THESE ARE GLOW IN THE DARK. Glow in the dark things make everything a million times cooler. Unknowingly (and jokingly), I had applied one of these bad boys onto someone else and they had noticed it even though it doesn't mention this wizardry on the packaging. I'm going to have to learn how to take photos in low-light settings because I feel like nail art in the dark would be very cool.

Aside from the glow in the dark madness, these are your typical nail sticker. Slightly plastic-feeling and more
sticky than the blue nail art stickers that I've tried (see review here), however they last just as long at around 3 days before the edges start to wear down. Another difference from others, the price point is pretty stellar. You cant go wrong at $2 - you won't even find nail art appliques at the drugstore on clearance for that price.

Facebook and Google Plus Nails with Born Pretty Store Stamping Set and Plate

PSA on social media - I love my readers and blogging friends (aka you) and the best way to reach out to your audience is social media... so since my beginnings with blogging (November 2012), I've forced myself to figure out what's what and how to use the what. I find social media quite the struggle - as a young'un (yes, that's what I call myself), my "followers" on instagram, twitter, facebook, and google plus consist of close friends, strangers, and everything in between. Managing two accounts for "real life" and "blogging life" would be painstakingly time consuming. So my makeshift solution is to find the perfect balance between life posts and blogging stuff...I'm still working on it.

Anyways, it's Monday, and Monday calls for manicures. I guess that means it's social media Monday this time around, as my manicures feature Facebook and Google Plus. Both of which I know I underutilize as a blogger (I'm a bigger fan of the twittersphere and the instagramz).

Nail art stamping is way easier than it looks. (1) paint a layer of polish over the metal plate (2) scrape off the excess polish (3) press the stamper over the metal plate (4) press the stamper over your nail to transfer over the design.

Born Pretty Store Sticker Exquisite Light Blue Lacy Patterned (Design MDP1016 14Pcs Nail Art)

I'm back into the nail sticker game - this time with a set that's fairly inexpensive from Born Pretty Store ($4.99). The Light Blue Lacy Pattered Design Nail Stickers are complex enough that it'd be hard to achieve on your own without some stamping skills or an extremely steady hand.

Application is just like any other nail sticker. Clean your nails by removing any excess oil, place the sticker on your nail, and file the edges to fit your natural nail shape and size. Of the appliques/stickers I've tried (Revlon, Shu Uemura, Nailed Kit, Kiss), these ones from Born Pretty Store are on the thinner, stretchier side, which I prefer. They're not as awesome as the Nailed Kit nail stickers but they're definitely some of the better, less expensive ones that I've tried. Stick and staying power wasn't perfect. The edges of the sticker began to fray after the second day.

Overall, Born Pretty Store has some of the most reasonably priced nail stickers. I'd rarely choose a sticker over the real-deal nail polish, but these intricate appliques are great if you're in a pinch and need something fun or fancy for a one or two day event.
